What is SMSC?

SMSC stands for Spiritual, Moral & Social and Cultural development. We believe that this is important to develop the ‘individual’, which is a core part of our School Vision. We also aim to develop our children’s understanding of the 'world around us’ including the people within it.

One of the ways we are hoping to develop SMSC is by providing our pupils with an enriched Curriculum. Our IPC curriculum is followed from Reception to Year 2. The IPC includes International learning goals.

International learning goals are unique to the IPC curriculum and help young children begin the move towards an increasingly sophisticated national, international and intercultural perspective. Each thematic IPC unit includes an international aspect, to help develop a sense of ‘international mindedness’.
